About Extension

Last modified 2007-09-26 20:21

OSU Extension @ Toledo Botanical Garden is a Horticultural Resource Center

The Mission of Extension

Engaging people to strengthen their lives and communities through research-based educational programming.

The OSU Extension @ Toledo Botanical Garden is a satellite office of OSU Extension, Lucas County.  We are located within the grounds of the Toledo Botanical Garden and offer program information to the public regarding all aspects of horticulture.  Our office is also home to the Lucas County Master Gardener's and their Horticulture Hotline.

The Mission of the Master Gardener:

The Ohio State University Master Gardener Program provides knowledge to and develops the leadership abilities of volunteers who, in turn, enable others to improve the quality of their lives by enhancing their home and community environments through horticultural education and activities.

Ohio State University Extension in Lucas County is funded through local, county, state, and federal dollars.  In addition to the support we receive from the Lucas County Commissioners, the horticulture program receives support from the Cities of Maumee, Oregon, Sylvania, and Toledo; the villages of Holland and Ottawa Hills; and Moclova and Sylvania Townships.  This funding allows us the privilege of working with the residents of Lucas County.
